Task 1c Short film 1

At the beginning of the short film a master shot is shown. master shots are important to show the audience where the story is going to set place and what time of day the scene is currently in. the story is set in a mansion styled house . in this shot a full moon visible

As the film progresses a low angle is used. this is to show that the women is looked up to by the child., also this is effective because it allows the audience to know the child has less power than the women. however the lighting is rather high keys so there is no indication of danger.

in this shot match on action is used to show what item the girl is using , while this is going on a cheerful soundtrack is playing this is non dietetic sound as its only the audience who can hear this sound . high key lighting is used to show that she is in a safe environment .

in this shot an over the shoulder perspective have been taken of the girl brushing her teeth. has been edited so at first the shot is not in focus by eventually gets into focus. this is done in horror and thriller films to make the audience suspious .

this two shot is used to portray the relationship between the girl and the dog . that fact that they're being framed together shows that the relationship is positive. backlighting is used in this shot this is done to portray that the room is dimmer than usual because of the room lights being off and the lamp being left on. its safe to say up until this point in the film there has been couneuity.

in this next shot is a high angle of the girl looking downstairs after looking she woken up by the sound of a leaking tap. the leaking tap is diegectic sound as the character responses to it. the type of lighting bring used in this shot is low-key this is to indicate that the character is not as safe as she was in previous scenes. the theme of the music being used in this scene is starting to get more tense as high pitch sounding theme is playing .

Here in this shot there is pan from downward, up. This has the effect of making the audience even more tense as the pan is slowly and it is keeping up in suspense to what we truly want to focus on . this shot retains the lighting in low-key.

in this there is a extreme close up on the girls eye. this is effective because the camera is soo close to her eye that we are not sure what she is looking at. this makes the audience tense because the girl is clearly afraid of something but we are not sure what she is afraid of.

in this shot it is evident that the film maker has used the rule of third when framing this shot. rule of third are is a technique where you guideline a shot with a 3x3 grid . the h line is where the character are usually focused on whereas the horizontal lines are usually for the background . this shot shows the girl sitting on the floor in a vulnerable position . this infer that something bad is going to happen.
