narrative report
Multi Stranded
Multi stranded films are films that follow more than one story lines at the same time. an example of this is Hollyoaks. it doesn't focus on solely one character, it focuses on different family and friends all at the same time in one episode.
Realist Narrative
Realist narrative is a believable story that maybe based on a true story. Realist narratives are used by displaying believable scenarios for example a middle eastern or man living in the city. this could be effective because it can cause the audience to feel emotions towards a character in the film, as they feel like it could be real life.
Open Narrative Open narrative is when they have many characters involve and as no sense of ending. This use in sops such ‘EastEnders, Holby city and Hollyoaks’ this are soaps that does not have an ending, due to this the story builds up when progressing further into the film. This makes I more interesting to watch.
Linear/Non linear Narrative Linear narrative is when you follow a straight line starting from beginning right through to end. A linear narrative are really simple and easy to follow. For example ‘Finding nemo’ simple story that anyone can follow ‘Finding nemo’ starts up with simple beginning and a simple ending. A linear narrative usually attractive younger generation. This is because it is easy to understand. non linear often follow more than one character.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Single and Multi camera production
single camera production set up is a method of making film and video. As its name suggests a production using a single camera set up generally employs just one cameraman to operate. Camera angles are taken by using the same single camera, which is moved around and rest to get each shot or new angle. Here are some examples of where single camera production may be found in :
Music Videos
TV Dramas
Thriller Films
What is Multi Camera?
Production multi camera is a method of film making and video production. Several cameras—either film or professional video cameras—are employed on the set and simultaneously record or broadcast a scene. It is often contrasted with single-camera setup, which uses one camera
Generally, the two outer cameras shoot close-up shots or "crosses" of the two most active characters on the set at any given time, while the central camera or cameras shoot a wider master shot to capture the overall action and establish the geography of the room.
Here are some examples of where Multi camera production may be found in :
Live Concerts
Talk Shows
Advantages and Disadvantages of Single and Multi camera production
Multi-Camera production uses more than the one camera, using more than one camera has its advantages.
Using multi-camera allows people to: Cover more area as there are more cameras,
Use different shots for each camera, be able to see reactions and emotions through different angles,
the transition from one person to another will be smoother as they film the whole thing together than shooting one person then re-doing it to film the other person. It will also be quicker to film as they do not have to re-do the same scene over and over to get each piece of footage like they would in single camera.
Multi Camera Disadvantages
It takes longer to set up due to the large amount of equipment. Its more expensive than single camera because there are more than 1 camera you would be using. Directors would only be able to use this in studios as it wouldn't be possible to be used outdoor.
Single Camera Advantages
The advantages of single camera (film or video) dramatic production is that scenes don't have to be shot in sequence. The final sequence of scenes is arranged during editing. Single camera shows that directors believe it appears more real to the audience. Therefore it has a greater impact on them making it easier to relate to what is on screen. Cheaper to film apposed to multiple camera techniques, as only one camera needs to be purchased or hired. Easier to set up and move around as there is only one camera.
Single Camera Disadvantages
Disadvantages probably most disadvantageous aspect of shooting with single-camera production is that you only get one angle at a time. you'll be spending a lot more time in the editing room. Because all of the film will be from one camera, all of your outtakes and mistakes will be have to be sorted out over time, as opposed to a multi-camera approach, where you can edit certain sequences, angles and scenes based on the camera that was shooting. The quality of the camera wouldn't be that clear or realistic.

Webisode Production SCT
In this report I will be looking at the purpose of each single camera techniques and why we used them when filming my webisode: Creepers or any particle lessons i have taken part in .
lighting is important because it can sculpt describe a scene or even a character. for example in the lighting is dark then it creates s sense of mystery. lighting is vital for also because it focuses the audiences attention a a particular subjects and can influence the mood of an audience.
Long shot - to show the area that the subject is surrounded in an that it might be important to the subjects upbringing
Extreme wild shots - it shows the scene that they are in, this shows that the audience where the action is taking place. It’s useful for scenes when the action is spread out.
Over the shoulder shot - from behind the person looking at the subject, shows the position of each person's point of view.
Rule of thirds
The rule of third is when you align the subject inside a grid of nine lines in order to centre the subject. subjects are often inline with the vertical lines whereas the horizontal lines are used for the background. the rule of third gives enough headroom for a shot , this will make sure that the shot is balanced.180 of degree rule
the 180 degree rule starts with an establishing shot but with this shot you will pick up a imaginary line in which the cameras can only be on the same side as the establishing shot was. also with this rule it will be an over the shoulder shot not passing the line. otherwise the shot in split screen will be facing each other when they should be facing the same way.Building a sequence
Building a sequenceis when you build shot for example the will film that person then film another shot to take away tension between the actors. for example the film one shot of a girl and then another `shot of the equipment. this consists of different types of shot getting different views also showing different expression. We used this in our webisode so it gave it more variety in the terms of shorts that are displayed.Blocking
Blocking is used to show the relationship between characters, for instants if two characters are place in a two shot face the same direction then this tell us that the two are friends with each other or allies. this is important when filming because it allows viewers to gain sense of what is going on during the film.
Framing (Head room, Lead Room)
When filming my webisode one of the things i learnt is that framing is extremely important. Framing is the way the camera is recording the intended subject.for example if care is not taken then you could find yourself having very unequal shots. Framing is important because it allows you to portray meaning with in your shots
Master Shot
Master shots are used in order to set the background with all the important character in one scene. In single Camera Production this is important because it sets the tone for the start of the film as it allows you to detect what time period and what type of environment the characters are set in
Lighting (High key, Low key, Single and 3-point)
lighting is important because it can sculpt describe a scene or even a character. for example in the lighting is dark then it creates s sense of mystery. lighting is vital for also because it focuses the audiences attention a a particular subjects and can influence the mood of an audience.
Match on Action
Match on Action occurs when the editor cuts from one shot to another, that is the same as the first shot. An example is a woman walking into a dark alley (one shot is on the woman, and another shot is her going into the alley). Match on action is important in single camera production because it allows a film to have a wide range of shots. this makes a film more interesting.
Shot/reverse shot
where one character is shown looking at another character or subject, and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. this is a technique used to show that two characters are exchanging in dialog. this is important to use when filming a single camera production because it allow a conversation between two characters to be more dynamic.
Movement (pan, tilt, track, dolly, zoom, contrazoom)
Pan - a horizontal camera movement when the camera moves left and right in a central axis. pan can be used to show mystery in a character
Tilt - a vertical camera movement in which the camera points up or down, for example the camera takes a shot from over the shoulder of a character showing the events happening from the characters point of view.
Dutch Tilt - a camera is deliberately slanted on one side, used for dramatic effects distortion
Dolly Zoom - zooming in and out of the subject while simultaneously adjusting the zoom angle to keep the subject the same size
Follow Shot - camera follows the subject of action
Trucking - side to side camera movements
Dolly - moving in and out of the subject
Shot types: Close up, long Shot, 2-Shot, Mid shot, over-the-shoulder, point of view)
Long shot - to show the area that the subject is surrounded in an that it might be important to the subjects upbringing
Extreme wild shots - it shows the scene that they are in, this shows that the audience where the action is taking place. It’s useful for scenes when the action is spread out.
2 shot - is when two people are in the shot and this shows the relationship between them both
Over the shoulder shot - from behind the person looking at the subject, shows the position of each person's point of view.
Point of view - shows a view from a subject prospective
Cut in shot - showing some part of the subject in detail, for example hard movements
these shots are used to make sure there is variety of shots in your film. if a film is shot with using the same kind of shots then it will cause the audience to lose interest in your film whereas if you have a variety of shots then is treats the audience to a mix of different visuals , making the film more exciting.
Establishing Shot
An establishing shot is often the first shot of a new scene, in my webisode i did not use an establishing shot , this effected my production because it just throws the audience in the deep end this is an important single camera technique because it is designed to show the audience where the action is taking place. .
Angles (High, Low, Canted)
an High angle is used to shot that the character that is being focused is less significant. for example in this scene the two goons are looking down on the girl. this is show that the girl is smaller than the two goons. this is used in single camera techniques to show the balance of power and significance between characters.
A low angle is the opposite of a high angle it is used to show a character is bigger than another character or it shows the obstacle is greater than the protagonist.

Single Camera Techniques Videos
180 Degree/ Rule of third / Match on Action/Shot reverse shot
b
Head room , Lead room and Framing
Headroom is making sure there is enough sure the subject is not being cut out of the shot. if there is too much head room then this is called dead space.Lead room
is when you have enough framing space to see the subject and what ever they are concetrating
Master shot/Depth of Field tutorial
Master shot is when you can see all the characters that are involved in the scene together along with the environment they are involved.Depth of field is when you focus on the subject along with the background.
Shot Types
close ups are used to show mystery and suspenselong shots are used to show the environment
mid shot are used to show a centre a shot
panning is used to put the subject to one side of the frame

Webisode Production Requirements Report
In this report i will showing all the requirements that i need in order to make sure my web serial is able to happen successfully. this plan is to ensure that that the project is delivered by the deadline.
Finance
in order for this project to be successful i am going to need to decided where i am going to get my source of finance from. this is important because if i do not have a source of fiance then i will not have enough funds to pay for things like Crew members wages, Recording equipment, Catering and even Editing. Usually web serials can be funded by kick starters, this means that people who are supporting the product donate their own money in order to make sure the project can be funded.
Budget requirements will need to set in order to make sure we are spending the right amount of money on facilities, for example paying for the transport , talent (cast/actor) crew (production), materials, facility hire (studio or edit suite). However for this project i will not need as much funding, this is because i will be using equipment for ctk sidcup free of charge, also i will not need to pay for travel as i am 17 and my travel is free when using buses in London. i will not need to pay for talent such as actors and crew, this is because i have convinced my friends and classmates to help me out free of charge.
Time
In the media business deadlines are very important. without deadlines the product will not be released on time , if the product is not released on time then it will cause the audience to be upset, also it will cost me more money as i will have to pay for extra use of equipment e.g Camera, microphones.
I will need to make sure that i have set out enough time to book the necessary equipment from CTK Sidcup. in this case i will need to make sure that i will have a working camera. if i don't have a camera i wont be able to film the web serial.
I have also taken into consideration the availability of personals, i am going to have to keep the contact details of each team member, this is so that i will be able to tell necessary information , like where we will be meeting.
Crew and Personnel
As i have no budget the size of me team is looking to be between 5- people, this is because i would have to ask favour from friends in order to help out with the project.Whereas a project such as VGHS would have over 100 people for cast and crew. their roles could vary from runners to camera man and even sound guys.
Facilities
In this project i am going need need facilities in order to make sure that i am able to shoot the one minute short film. the production equipment i will need is a camera and a tripod. however VGHS would need more things such as reflectors, gels , stabilizer and even lenses
in order for my project to go forth i am going to have some post production , this includes using software like final cut pro x to edit all the footage that has been shot, Ctk Sidcup have an editing suite available for me to use in order to edit all my footage.
Hiring out facilities can be costly , it can cost up to £2300+ to hire out equipment for 7 days, on one hand this is good because this ensure that the equipment and resources are top notch and fully functional on the other hand the colleges resources are free to use , this is idle for me as i will be looking to put in the least amount as money as i need to, as i am not being funded.
however as i am doing this part of a college assignment , Christ the king will be responsible for supplying me with: A lighting kit, Camera and Tripod. Another facility they will be able to provide me with is a mac suite to edit the footage we have gathered.
Materials
for my project i will need to think about what music i will use. however i can not just pick any song that i want to be in this project, unless i score the piece of music myself or own the copyrights then i will not be able to use the audio in my film. "In a nutshell Royalty Free Music refers to a type of music licensing that allows the purchaser to pay for the music license only once and to use the music for as long as desired. For example you purchase a Royalty Free Music license for a video on your website"
Paying the royalties to music has its upsides, as you have a wider selection of music to choose from to be featured in your film.
